"Take 2" Information

As mentioned throughout our website, you must have a business telephone system to do music or messaging on hold using our on hold unit (or an on hold unit from any other company, for that matter). If you purchased telephones from an office supply store and plugged them into the wall like you do at home, you don’t have a business phone system – you just have telephones.

In this case, we have an alternative – the Take 2 ($60, plus shipping). This device is appropriate for very small offices, and allows you to provide professionally recorded messages to your callers on hold . Note that you still need our on hold unit to play your recording – the Take 2 works with our on hold unit, not in place of our on hold unit.

The Take 2 works on up to two telephone lines at a time. The phone cords from the wall jack plug into the Take 2. Our message on hold unit, which plays your personalized recording, plugs into the Take 2. Your telephone also plugs into the take 2. A diagram is below. Installation instructions are also included with the unit.

The Take 2 works only on one telephone – the reason it is well suited for a very small office, but not an office with numerous phones on desks. If you answer the phone that Take 2 is connected to, then wish to place the caller on hold so they hear the recorded message – you push the button on the Take 2 – not the “hold” button on your phone. If the caller is on phone line 1, you press the “1” button on the Take 2 to put them on hold. If the caller is on phone line 2, you press the “2” button on the Take 2 to put them on hold. They hear your on hold recording while they wait. To take the caller off hold so you can speak to them again, press the button on the Take 2.

Note that if you have two or more phones on desks in your office – you can’t place a caller on hold using the Take 2 at one phone, then pick up the line at another phone. The caller must be taken off hold by pressing the button on the Take 2 – not a button on your phone
